Staff members endeavour to equip the students with advanced information skills and classes regularly come to the library to develop these skills. The library is a busy hub of College life and even when the lights are turned off the library is still working – providing online material to the College community through remote access. Oakhill is a reading community and the library provides a wonderfully varied collection of fiction and literature that stimulates students to read widely. Ӱ students take part in the Read to Succeed Challenge, Book Week, Coding Club, Readers Group, Virtual Reality Explorers, Writing Competitions and have opportunities to hear from successful visiting authors.
The Reading Boost program is a new whole College reading initiative that puts the choice of what to read and how to respond to your reading in the hands of the students. Students can read, ebooks, eaudiobooks, listen to podcasts, read a blog or even an interesting website as well as, of course, books. Any and all reading for pleasure counts as part of the program.
We offer Reading Boost merits and other incentives for students and at the end of Term Three students are invited to submit an e-portfolio of reading in order to be invited to a celebration with the Principal.
